The rustling of my bones in their brown-paper package turns me Southward
and I know it will be time to go again soon.
I don’t know why or for how long, but I’ve started paring down my possessions
and gathering my wits the way I do before I make a big change.
The next few weeks will be interesting. R leaves tomorrow morning to spend three and a half weeks driving around the western half of the country looking for work. I’ll be spring cleaning, taking classes, working, interning, finishing up producing my album, rehearsing for the Alaska Folk Festival (coming up in April), booking summer shows, and travelling to Anchorage for the first time to present my research on the same Folk Festival I’ll be playing in a few weeks later. So many things to do that will then all be done at once. Come summer, who knows? I have one travel gig lined up in late July but other than that I’m a free girl again and I won’t be reined in so fast this time. I’m not quite done wandering.
